visuals 2.0 - participatory video installation

The installation allows people to participate in creating the visuals by dancing in specially designed area. Their atered image creates animated abstract forms - unique to every dancer/ performer's style and character.

The idea was born around year 2006 largely inspired by the legendary Synergy Project event. There, the line between the audience and artists was very blurred, resulting in one big participatory creative buzz rather than resembling typical entertainement consummerist 'night out'.

This installation is an attempt to reflect this idea in video projections - to allow people to be a part of visuals, and co-create them rather then just staring at the content from big projections screens at typical party setup. To avoid awkward interfaces I decided that projections should be done in the most natural and beautiful way - with movement of human body, unrestricted with any gadgets.

The movie above shows how the idea manifested in reality at the Synergy Project in September 2007.

The latest version of the installation further extends the creative input of participants by enabling them to control the effects on screen with wireless controller.
